Track Permission Changes History of Any Extension

Why track permission changes?

When an extension updates its permissions, it could be for a legitimate reason, such as adding a new feature. However, it could also be a red flag. For example: An extension that previously only needed storage access suddenly requests all_urls access. An extension changes ownership and the new owner adds invasive permissions. A malicious update is pushed that tries to steal user data. By tracking the history of these changes, Chrome-Stats gives you the transparency you need to make informed decisions about the extensions you use.

How it works

On every extension page on Chrome-Stats, you can now find a "Permissions History" section. This section provides a chronological log of every permission change we have detected for that extension. For each change, you can see: The Date: When the change was detected. The Version: Which version of the extension introduced the change. Added Permissions: New permissions that were requested. Removed Permissions: Permissions that are no longer required. This level of detail helps you audit the evolution of an extension's security profile and identify any suspicious behavior.
